Rapper Rick Ross, legal name William Roberts II, was arrested in Miami Beach on Thursday morning on a felony charge of battery by strangulation and a misdemeanor battery charge, according to police.
Ross was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 6:10 a.m. The charges stem from an alleged domestic‑violence incident at his Star Island mansion in August, as reported by CBS News.
The complainant claims Ross struck her face and chest, twisted the collar of her hoodie to restrict breathing, pulled her hair and slammed her against a wall, causing a broken lip. He allegedly pushed her to the floor, turned on the shower and sprayed water at her, according to the arrest affidavit.
Miami‑Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer found probable cause for the arrest. Ross’s attorney, Steve Sadow, said the ex‑girlfriend did not file a police report until a month after the alleged incident and that Ross has pleaded not guilty. He is being held on $5,000 bail and faces arraignment on Oct. 22.
