Iran announced that it has received an official response from the United States to its latest proposal to end the conflict, according to a statement by the state‑run IRNA news agency. The response was presented to President Masoud Pezeshkian by foreign minister Abbas Araghchi during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Iranian officials said they had not yet disclosed the content of the response or whether it was a rejection.
In the cabinet meeting, President Pezeshkian pledged to work toward a “win‑win” agreement and to defend the rights of the Iranian people. He said the government would “make every effort to bring the agreement to fruition” and that the proposal must now be based on a strategy that benefits both sides.
The announcement comes after President Donald Trump publicly rejected the proposal a few days earlier, insisting that the United States would win its war in Iran “very soon.” Oil prices have risen following Trump’s comments, and he denied that the U.S. would lift sanctions on Iran in exchange for steps to curb Tehran’s nuclear program.
The developments are part of a broader context in which the United States has recently completed the withdrawal of all troops from Iraq and has been involved in diplomatic talks with mediators in New York. The situation remains fluid as both sides continue to negotiate and respond to each other’s positions.
