A mass shooting at an after‑hours spot in Detroit on Sunday left three people dead and four others injured, police said.
Police received a ShotSpotter alert before a 911 call just before 7:30 a.m. Officers arrived within four minutes and found the three fatalities.
The injured—two men and two women in their twenties and thirties—were taken to nearby hospitals in private vehicles. Chief Todd Bettison said the address had been the subject of seven calls this year and that a fight had escalated into gun violence. He also noted the location was not new to the department and declined to discuss leads. “Regardless of what was occurring in this particular location, no one deserves to have their life ended or to be wounded by gun violence,” he added.
Mayor Mary Sheffield urged anyone with information to contact authorities, saying the community should not suffer from such violence. “It’s heartbreaking and our community should not suffer from this type of violence,” she said at the news conference.
