A retired sub-inspector has been arrested in Kerala under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl. The accused, identified as 62-year-old E. Gopinathan, was taken into custody by the Pariyaram police in Kannur.
The incident came to light on Wednesday afternoon when the 11-year-old girl fell ill after returning home and disclosed the details of the assault to her mother. The police were immediately informed, and an investigation was launched. According to the police, the accused allegedly lured the child to his house and committed the crime.
The girl’s statement was recorded, and a case was registered under the POCSO Act.
