Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann laid the foundation stone of a Rs 54.76 crore road over bridge (ROB) in Dhuri, aimed at easing traffic congestion, improving regional connectivity, and accelerating socio-economic development. The modern two-lane ROB with a footpath is being constructed over the Sheron Distributary adjacent to level crossing no. 62-A on the Rajpura-Bathinda railway line in Dhuri sub-division. The project is being executed with funding from the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB).
All necessary approvals have been obtained from the Railways, Forest Department, BSNL, and other concerned departments, with a commitment to complete the project within 18 months by October 2027. The ROB will provide major relief from traffic congestion in Dhuri and surrounding areas, strengthening the region’s transport infrastructure and accelerating social and economic development. The Punjab government has fully funded the project to ensure the lower railway crossing remains open, protecting local businesses and preventing the city from being divided.
This engineering marvel is being constructed over an active canal and railway line for the convenience of the people. During the event, Mann expressed gratitude to the people and thanked the residents of Dhuri in Sangrur district for their landslide victory in the last month’s municipal council elections. He also announced that the new municipal council president will be appointed soon.
In a separate event, Mann reaffirmed his government’s commitment to celebrating the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji in a historic and befitting manner. He flagged off 50 mobile documentary vans to carry Guru Ji’s timeless message of equality, social justice, devotion, and universal brotherhood to every corner of the state. The specially designed campaign will take a 30-minute documentary on the life, philosophy, and sacred teachings of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji to nearly 13,000 villages across all 23 districts through LED-equipped mobile vans.
