Punjab Police has busted a cross-border arms smuggling network, arresting four individuals in Amritsar and seizing 10 sophisticated pistols and live cartridges. According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the accused were acting on the directions of a foreign-based smuggler, receiving illegal weapon consignments through cross-border routes for further supply to criminal elements. The police are conducting further investigations to establish backward and forward linkages in the case and identify other associates involved in the illegal arms supply chain.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ravi Singh, Sharanbir Singh alias Sunny, Manpreet Singh alias Mannu, and Pippal Singh, all residents of villages in Amritsar and Ferozepur. The recovered weapons include three .30 bore pistols made in China, one 9MM Glock pistol made in Austria, and five .30 bore pistols, along with nine live cartridges. Police teams have also impounded two motorcycles.

Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that police teams arrested Ravi Singh and Sharanbir alias Sunny, recovering three pistols from their possession. Further interrogation led to the recovery of two more pistols, and the arrest of Manpreet alias Mannu and Pippal Singh, who were found to be in possession of three pistols. The investigation has revealed that the accused individuals are residents of villages located close to the International Border, indicating their involvement in cross-border illegal arms smuggling activities.

Additionally, verification of their criminal antecedents has shown that Sharanbir alias Sunny and Ravi Singh are already involved in a previously registered criminal case under attempt to murder and Arms Act provisions.
